How to setup general settings
General settings in Packrooster Shipping are important to set up before you start using the App. Many information are mandatory for different shipping carrier services, and they need to be set up if you don't want to end up having error messages when trying to fulfill orders and print shipping labels to your orders. Here's a small guide to each part of the general settings.
You can access general settings by opening Packrooster Shipping —> Settings —> General settings
Language
Set the language of Packrooster Shipping interface. Available languages are Finnish, English, Swedish and Norwegian.
Add shipping method tags to new orders
Packrooster will tag created orders based on the shipping rate selected by the customer
Save shipment information into order metafield
Packrooster stores shipping information to packrooster.shipments order metafield when this setting is activated. Requires Premium or Enterprise plan of Packrooster!
Mark items as packed by scanning product barcodes
While processing orders, scan products using product barcode, SKU or variant ID. Requires Enterprise plan of Packrooster!
Pack the whole quantity with one click
If you manually mark products as packed when creating shipments and you have multiple same items in an order, you can activate this if you want mark all of those multiple items as "packed" with one single click.
Automatic printing for customs documents
If the shipment requires customs declaration documents, you can choose to automatically print the documents together with the shipping label.
After opening order — Pack all items When activated, Packrooster automatically packs all items
After opening order — Print previously fulfilled orders again When activated, Packrooster automatically prints a shipping label for an order that was already fulfilled earlier
After all items are packed — Create shipping labels When activated, shipment and shipping label is automatically created after the items are packed
After all items are packed — Print shipping labels When activated, Packrooster automatically prints the shipping label after it is created
After all items are packed — Fulfill shipment to Shopify When activated, Packrooster automatically fulfills the order after shipment and shipping labels are created
After order is fulfilled — Send Shopify's Shipping Confirmation email to the customer automatically after fulfillment
When activated, Packrooster sends the customer a shipping confirmation email configured in Shopify after fulfilling the order
After order is fulfilled — Remove order data from Packrooster after order is fully fulfilled
When activated, order data is removed from Packrooster after fulfilling the order. There is a one minute delay after the fulfillment before erasing the data.
Shipping locations
Shipping locations can be created and removed from Shopify settings. Remember to add shipping location information since many carriers require shipping location information. Required fields are: Company, Street address, Zip code, City, Country. We do recommend to also type other information like contact person, EORI number, telephone and email as many shipping carriers require this information to be available

This is important to fill in, as many shipping carriers require this information to be available. It is the information of what the shipment contains.
Shipments — Package material weight
The weight of the packaging material that you use in grams. It adds in the total weight of the order. We strongly suggest to add a small weight here (like 10 grams, used as a default packaging material weight), as if your products don't have weights set in Shopify, you might end up with zero weight shipment. Zero weight orders might not be supported by some carrier services and you might end up with an error message when processing the order.
Shipping zone VAT ID's
Here you can fill in VAT ID's for each shipping zone you have set in Shopify settings. These are important especially when you are shipping to foreign countries, since some shipping carriers and customs declarations need this information.
Customers — Emphasize customer's note when opening the order
If the order has a note from customer, Packrooster Shipping will display the message in a popup window after opening the order.
Customers — Emphasized customer tags
Packrooster Shipping will display selected customer tags in a popup window after opening the order. Emphasizing these tags could be useful for shops adding something extra to the shipments for VIP customers or avoid processing orders of blacklisted customers.
Customs information — Price for free products
Define how the value of a free product is displayed on the commercial invoice. Available options are:
- Use original price before discounts
- Use percentage of original price
- Use fixed value
- Use cost per item value
