Setting up Packrooster for different locations
Packrooster Shipping can be set up to work with multiple different shipping locations. Here's a guide how to do the setup.
Setting up locations in Shopify
First of all, you must have multiple locations configured in your Shopify store. Locations can be found in Shopify settings —> Locations. Add locations accordingly.
Setting up shipping zones
There's two ways to configure shipping methods for different locations. You can either add multiple shipping locations for each shipping zone or you can create own shipping zones and rates for each location.
At the screenshot below, we have configured multiple fulfillment locations for shipping zones. This means that same shipping rates are used for each location.
If you configure fulfillment locations to be used in the same shipping zone, shipping methods configured in Packrooster will have available shipping zones of "Domestic" in the shipping methods visibility at the checkout filters. Also if you configure shipping methods directly to the Shopify shipping zone, the shipments from each location will use the same shipping method.
Configuring multiple shipping zones per location
As said earlier, this is also possible. See screenshot below. Latvia zone is first separated..
... then, a new rate is created...
... Now you will have completely other shipping rate profile in your shipping rates!
This will display at Packrooster shipping methods Visibility at checkout section like this
As you can see, now you can create different shipping methods and pickup points available for different locations.
Configuring location information
While creating shipments, Packrooster Shipping uses the information from the location to fill in the necessary data for the shipment, shipping labels, customs documentation and so on.
You can manage all location information in Packrooster Shipping —> Settings —> General settings
By clicking on the Edit button, you can start filling the information like contact person, location addresses and VAT-numbers, all required for the shipments.
Fulfilling orders when multiple locations are used
If the order contains products from multiple locations, Packrooster Shipping will by default generate multiple shipments per order. See screenshot below; there are products from Location 1 and Location 2
See "Select location" setting. With location select, you can choose to select one of the locations only:
If you fulfill the order from location #1, the other is still open for fulfillment and the order is marked as "Partially fulfilled"
Nice thing to know about shipping methods and pickup points when ordering from multiple locations
In Shopify, if the cart contains items from multiple locations, Shopify will either combine the shipping methods available or split the shipments at the checkout. This is configured in Shopify Shipping & Delivery settings.
The shipping methods and pickup points will display differently for the customer at checkout, depending if split shipping is on or off.
Let's demonstrate this with a cart containing products from two different locations. In Packrooster I have configured one shipping method with a shipping price of 1€ for the customer.
When split shipping is off
Rates are combined (2 x 1€ = 2€)
When split shipping is on
The shipment costs are still combined to 2€, but are now visible for the customer.
By clicking "More shipping options", customer can change the pickup point. No matter if split shipment is on or off, the order will contain fulfillments equal to the amount of locations used.
