DDU- Delivery Duties Unpaid

DDP- Delivery Duties Paid

Shipping to UPS pickup points you might encounter an error code like this:

This error comes from having the wrong incoterms when shipping to UPS pickup points. For example delivering inside EU your incoterm has to be DDU (Delivery Duties Unpaid). If you are shipping from EU to other countries the incoterm has to be DDP (Delivery Duties Paid).

DDU means that duties are not yet paid so the customer receiving the goods will be invoiced with the duties. Meanwhile DDP means that the duties are already paid by the shipper. So you as a merchant will need to pay the duties before hand. DDP is definitely more hassle free option for your customers but it will increase your fees with shipping. Many who uses DDP as an incoterm from EU to US for example adds the duties to either in the products price or in shipping price. You can also use third party apps to collect the duties from customer in checkout. That way customer will get the goods faster and there is no additional penalty to your profit margins with providing this service.
