Waybill

A Waybill (also known as a shipping label or consignment note) is a document issued by the carrier that accompanies a shipment of goods. It contains essential information about the shipment, including:

  • Sender and recipient details
  • Tracking number
  • Package contents
  • Weight and dimensions
  • Shipping service used

In international shipping, the waybill also plays a critical role in customs clearance. While it is not the same as a customs declaration, it works together with it.

Here’s how they relate:

  • The customs declaration provides detailed information about the contents of the shipment (product descriptions, values, HS codes, country of origin, etc.).
  • The waybill references this information and is often used by customs authorities to match the shipment with its declaration.
  • For carriers that support paperless trade (PLT) or electronic customs, both the waybill and the customs declaration are sent digitally, speeding up the process.

In Packrooster, when you create a shipping label (waybill), the necessary customs information is automatically included and sent electronically if required and supported by the shipping carrier. This ensures smooth international shipping and reduces the risk of delays at customs.
